In today’s picks from around the web – How to properly clean your spectacles may it be glasses or plastic lenses. Stoke City #10 Michael Owen may face action after landing a ‘punch’ on Arteta. Read a first hand account of what it is like to fly the world’s most iconic military aircraft that outran every missile fired at it. All the fear of home bred terrorists in the United States was unfounded in 2012. Lastly, a seasoned user explains what Apple needs to fix across iOS and OSX.

#1: The Best Way to Clean Your Glasses

Wearing glasses have gone from geeky to fashionable to just something we take for granted. Keeping your spectacles maintained is key to enjoying good vision and extending the life of your eye wear. This article covers everything in detail including both glass and plastic lenses. [via Wall Street Journal]

#2: Owen Could Face Action from FA

The Arsenal vs. Stoke City match descended into a mini brawl at the end. Arsenal reacted angrily to a studs up Showcross challenge while Owen landed a soft but purposeful punch (or thump) on Arteta’s back after the Spanish midfielder disposed him with a perfect sliding tackle. Arteta reacts to the soft punch with a soft elbow before Wilshere charges in to separate the two [GIF playback]. Note how both of them are trying to fight without getting carded. Quite hilarious on hindsight. Frankly, I am pretty shocked at Owen for reacting in such a manner given his otherwise cool temperament and the fact that the tackle took the ball cleanly without even touching any part of his body. Owen now faces possible action since the referee didn’t spot that little ‘punch’. There is now more bad blood between football and rugby. [via BBC Football]

#3: The Thrill of Flying the SR-71 Blackbird

I love the SR-71 Blackbird. The U.S. spy plane not only looks sleek and futuristic, it is also the fastest military craft in existence with a top speed of Mach 3+. An ex pilot shares a few tales from his exploits in the SR-71. The craft outruns missiles and even went past its own top speed. If you had any dreams of being a pilot, the Blackbird is undoubtedly the speed demon and you can get a good look at the experience here. [via Gizmodo]

#4: U.S. Muslim Terrorism Was Practically Nil in 2012

It is unfortunate that terrorism tends to get mixed up with Muslim fundamentalists so much so that some have used the terms interchangeably. Well, here is reason to stop that. The good news is that the United States can rest a little easier about its own citizens turning into terrorists. That’s simply because it wasn’t a case in 2012. Of course, you can never let your guard down but it is also time to stop relating an entire religion to such unsavory groups. [via Wired]

#5: Yet Another Thing Apple Needs To Get Better At

2013 has started with a pretty poor press spin on former media darling Apple. While Apple has been known for its design prowess, it has a lot to catch up on in terms of software optimization. A seasoned Mac user shares what Apple has to turn the screws on in both iOS and OSX. [via patrickbeja.com]
